I was curious, just how similar are the sound channels on the NES and the GB?

@hylianarmy0 The NES 2A03 standard module has two square waves, one triangle wave, a noise channel and a DPCM channel for samples. The Gameboy has 2 squares, a freeform wave that can be whatever you want it to be, and a noise channel. I found the freeform wave sounded similar to a VRC6 channel so I decided to use that.

Oh man, this took me back...my parents confiscated my GBC caused I got obsessed with playing this game. I just recently went back to try to play it and got my ass handed to me by every damn NPC, even the energy guy! How I beat that game as a seven year-old, I'll never know...anyway, thanks for that nostalgia! Superb job reproducing that iconic theme.
