    he started writing this book back in the 70s, so no, there was no "stealing the idea" involved.

    and i acknowledged that in my comment. I just think that, if it hadn't been for Michael Grant writing the Gone series, Stephen King wouldn't have been inspired to resume writing using this plot. I respect Stephen King as an author but this really annoys me, seeing as I've been looking forward to the Gone series becoming a TV show/film for years and this is the reason its not happening
