SPEED,CANTONA,McCALLISTER AND STRACHAN TO NAME JUST A FEW OF THE LEGENDS PLAYING IN THIS EUROPEAN GAME Vs STUTTGART AT ELLAND ROAD ON THE 30th SEPTEMBER 1992,THIS WAS THE FIRST ROUND SECOND LEG.LEEDS LOST ON AGGREGATE BUT STUTTGART WERE LATER ON FOUND OUT TO BE FIELDING AN INELIGIBLE PLAYER SO LEEDS AND STUTTGART PLAYED A PLAYOFF GAME WHICH LEEDS WON.

No kidding - Speed's goal is my favourite Leeds goal. Great player and pro. And this game is one of my faves too.

This game is my most enduring memory of Gary Speed. Flamboyant locks, flamboyant strike. Teaching in school, the following day there were tributes from Rochdale schoolboys who didn't like Leeds much saying what an amazing comeback it was, while the girls were chatting about Speed's looks.

Funnily enough that was about as flamboyant as Gary got, as he got a reputation afterwards for solid, reliable midfield and defensive play. A very sad day... awesome guy.
