  • I think there is also Tony Williams on the drums on the left of the stage..

  • OscarFan: Thanks for the reassurance. I didn't actually know about this background info until maybe 15 yrs back and i've been playing them for 40 yrs. I never realised "Ornithology" was from "How High The Moon", "Scrapple from the Apple" from "Honeysuckle Rose". You are listening/playing the best around for such a young person.

  • Yes, I know! I also do the same with "I got rhythm". But when I listen to "Moose the mooche", I recognize the famous chord progression, the same on Miles Davis' "Dig" (it's "Sweet Georgia Brown"), and lots of tunes! My favourite of all those is "Indiana" changed to "Donna Lee". And you don't sound smug, you're absolutely right!

  • O.P.fan: Didn't mean to sound smug..it's actually hard for me also but i can struggle through it. Alot of Birds, Dizzy's tunes followed the same chord progression of famous pop songs of the 30/40s like "Cherokee" , "Whispering", "I Got Rhythm". They added fast bebop lines and changed the titles. to "Groovin High", "Confirmation" etc.

  • Isn't this "Groovin' High"? Anyway, it's hard to play for a bad musician like me

  • It was the bebop version of "Whispering". Not as hard as' Freedom Jazz Dance 'though.

  • One of my favourite Dizzy's tunes (but it's hard to play it!)

  • amazing!

  • Damn! Get it Gerry!

  • sorry to say it - but this sounds horrible! what a terrible tribute to some of the masters of jazz - and at only 2 and a half minutes.
