Umbrella Cockatoo Romeo takes a walk on our fence.

Although Cockatoos are beautiful inviting birds please do your research before thinking about getting one. Bird rescues are full of unwanted birds because there owners didn't know what they were getting into.

  • Actually, I had a Senegal for years and I never had to clip his wings nor close his cage. It all depends on how they were raised. We still have an open door policy for all our birds so we can interact. My new Cherry Headed Conure doesn't quite know what to think yet. All of our animals now were previously owned and all of the birds were previously abused. But we're working on it. Sunny the Conure now gives kisses.

  • look so smart~

  • my moms african grey got out the door and flew up into a tree lol it took houres! to coux her down! but now we clip her wings or close the front door lol.

  • A responcible bird owner will clip the wings to prevent flight, and too's are around the same size as most hawks, so they arn't a threat as hawks tend to go after smaller animals then themselves.

  • You don't have to tell that to a cockatoo owner. I think a person that has a pet that costs $1500 and has the intelligence of 3 year old would careful...

  • Nice DM2. I am so glad you included

the useful info re: cockatoos. They

    are incredible birds and equally

demanding of one's time and love.

    They surely deserve it!

  • That is cute! But be aware that a hawk could get him or he could fly away.
