Pulitzer Center grantees Tristan McConnell and Nayaran Mahon report from Somaliland, an unrecognized breakaway region of Somalia, struggling to find its way as a fledgling democratic country in the troubled Horn of Africa region. After claiming independence in 1991, the Somaliland government, in stark contrast to the failed state of Somalia, has constructed many facets of a functioning, stable state. Somaliland has carried out several Presidential elections and peaceful transfers of power. However, elections scheduled for April 2008 have been postponed five times, raising questions about the future of Somaliland. Do you even know anything about Somaliland? Have you ever been there? Do you actually know the differenced between Somalia and Somaliland? I know the answer to all 3 the questions, and you stating things like what you have not only is false but also pathetic. so have a nice day a learn a thing or 2 before you post comments that may rub people the wrong way

  • @stack150 why should they??? They want to move on, build their country, reach its absolute potential!! why should they be held back by Somalia that cant even bring STABILITY for 20 years, 20 YEARS, subhanallah its like the government doesnt give a shit anymore, in a sense it gave up hope, and that really annoys me walahi, to see Somalia ( which was one of the most beautiful country in africa) lookin like hell hole, Somaliland wouldnt be seekin recognition today if it wasnt for that civil war.
