"Whatever you say, Joseph." She left and I walked into my room. Man, she is so nosy. After fifteen minutes of interrogation, she finally bought the story of me trying to expand my interests. Haha. Yeah, right!
After a while, the servant came back. "I finally found it, Your Highness."
"Thank you. This means a lot." I went back into my room and sat on my bed. I looked at the cover. It was in great condition for being so old. I opened the book and turned the page to the first chapter. Once I read the first sentence I couldn't stop.
The entire book was in a girl's point of view. She meets this guy at a party. They start seeing each other and fall in love. In a huge shocker, she finds out that he's engaged to another woman but that he does love the main character. They're about to get married when he can't take it and runs to find the girl he loves. They end up getting married and all that jazz.
To my surprise, it was actually a really good book. I soon realized it was about four o'clock. I decided to head over to Abigail's house and give her the book as a gift. I wanted to make it up to her for tearing her other one. I walked to her window and peered in. She wasn't inside her room. I opened the window and stepped inside.
Maybe she was still mad at me. I sighed. She probably was. I put the book on the bed and was in the middle of climbing out her window when the door opened. I panicked, thinking it was her mom, and accidentally fell backwards onto the floor. I hurriedly picked myself up and turned around to see Abigail. "Joe..."
"Abigail, I am so sorry for ripping your book. I should have just given it back to you. I felt so terrible and I just wanted to--" She had run over and cut me off with a kiss on the lips.
She pulled away and stared at me. "You have no reason to apologize. I should be the one saying sorry. I overreacted so much. It's just a book."
"But it was your favorite book."
"How do you know that?"
"After you stormed off, I looked at the book and one of the pages said favorite book ever. I felt so bad after that. I never meant to make you mad."
"It's not your fault, Joe. Yeah, I really loved that book but I would much rather have you." She blushed, apparently embarrassed by admitting that.
"Well, I hope you still love that book because I got it for you." I grabbed the book off of her bed and handed it to her. "Just something to say sorry."
"Oh my gosh. Really? Thank you so much!" She threw her arms around my neck and hugged me. She jumped back down. "You know you don't have to do this, Joe. It really is just a book."
"I know but I wanted to. Besides, it's a pretty good book."
Abigail giggled at that. "You read it?"
"I was bored. I kinda liked it. So here."
"How did you find it?"
"Took me a while." Lie.
"Well, thank you so much. I really appreciate it, Joe."
"It was no problem at all." For the servant it was.
We ended up laying on her bed and just talking. I love these moments with Abigail. Just the two of us having our heart-to-hearts. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. "Abigail, can you come out here? I want you to meet someone."
"Be right there." She turned back to me. "Just wait a second." I got a quick kiss and smiled to myself as she stood up and walked out of the room. I put my arms behind my head and continued to smile like an idiot. Could she be any more amazing? Out of nowhere, there was a scream and I shot up in the bed. It was Abigail.
The door opened and shut so quickly and Abigail ran over to me. She practically pounced on me and held onto me. She was whimpering and breathing so hard. "Abigail, what's wrong? What happened?"
"He's here. Joe, don't let him touch me."
"Who?"
"The man from the woods. He's here to take me away. Please don't let him." I tensed up. How is here? How did he know where she lived?
"I won't let him get anywhere near you, okay? I'll protect you." She nodded.
The door swung open and against my former thought, Abigail hugged me even tighter. I looked up and sure enough, the man was right there. I stood up and protectively gripped Abigail. He was never going to touch her. Not with me around. "You," we both said at the same time.
"Who are you? Why do you want her? She's just a young girl."
"She's not just a young girl... she's my daughter."

So this was also a crap chapter. But yeah, whatever. Thanks for the comments. I love you guys.
