Macular degeneration is a disease associated with aging that gradually destroys sharp central vision, making it impossible to see faces, to read, or to drive. No therapy exists for the most common, or "dry", form of the disease. Mark Humayun, professor of ophthalmology & biomedical engineering at the Doheny Eye Institute, University of Southern California, recently received a CIRM Disease Team Award to develop a stem cell-based therapy for Macular Degeneration. Series: "California Institute for Regenerative Medicine" [Health and Medicine] [Show ID: 22469]

  • @mbrombacher Thank you very much. In the UK where I live they're currently doing trials in moorfields eye hospital. They're doing it on macular degeneration and stargardt's, but I have a simular condition and I'm hoping they'll have something soon.

  • @leahcimrac keep watching ACT, Advanced Cell Technology, I hope they can help you soon.. maybe through fda compassionate program..
