Levercycle: Stepper on wheels. This is a radical new type of bicycle that could render all conventional bicycles obsolete. Investors Wanted. Contact: Rob Duff esoyoga@hotmail.com
change the handlebars!!! otherwise it seems a great idea. handlebars should be much higher, youd get way more power, (methinks) and add a lightweight seat anyway.... as an option? I hope you keep going with this... revolutionize!
Sorry but "render all conventional bicycles obsolete", profoundly superior? If you had said "hey, look how cool this is. It's not nearly as fast and nimble as a conventional bike, but whoo is it fun!" geat. But as it is, you sound like a prick. Don't overstate the invention. By the way, you're not taking advantage of the lever, that, in fact is not a lever...it's a pivot. Your driving mechanism is that piston style arrangement immediately over the pedals. No mechanical advantage.
umm...I'm going with no. This will not render bicycles obsolete. This is no more suited to human biomechanics than what is currently the most efficient form of transportation known to man...the chain driven bicycle. Doesn't require a seat? So...twenty miles into your ride you're not gonna want to rest? On a standard bike, all muscle effort is used to move you forward. With this bike, you must support your own weight. Are you saying that walking up stairs takes no muscular effort?
@vampirjaeger23 I think he means "strain" as in pulled muscles and joint injuries, not the lack of use of the muscles. I bet this bike "let's you feel the burn" if you want to really push. Since you have full gear ranges, you can increase the cadence as well.
Video owner: I really like your mountain bike style design. If you built this with 26" ATB wheels, better components, and an option to mount SPDs or other "clipless" modern pedals to the treadles, this would be a hot seller. The design needs to take care of toe overlap/ or toe sweep, by a slightly longer frame, and a suspension fork would top the cake. The mountain bike world could use this.
Good Job! Innovate O Die...in Conventional bike you seat 70% and 30% work plus mash nuts...Wife will hate soon or later LOL....ROBDUFF Keep going!

@siameez Have you ever ridden a BMX? Are you nuts? I can brake harder standing on my bikes (road, mountain, and beach bike) than sitting down.
