Humans aren't much different than birds when it comes to showing affection. Humans often kiss each other unwittingly engaging in a heredity throwback to our hairy primate days. Back then there were no blenders and babies have no teeth so what was a mother to do? She would chew the food for the baby and you can figure out the rest.

My budgie used to do a bit of this on my hand. I was going to get him a female companion but he died before I could. He was only a few years old if that but got him talking real well. Wish I had a video camera in those days. On photos he appears a lot whiter than he was.
