"Requiem for a Dinosaur" is my tribute to the films of Willis O'Brien, Ray Harryhausen, and their compassion for these leviathans of an ancient world. It is also a throwback to the time of films like "One Million Years B.C." and "When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth" when dialogue wasn't necessary to tell the story. The dinosaurs featured here are from a documentary titled "Last day of the Dinosaurs" that aired on the Discovery channel. While not stop motion as I would have preferred, the sequences were so impactful that I couldn't resist working with them. I have edited together a short film about 6 minutes in length to detail the demise of the dinosaurs and laid down a fresh bed of sound effects. The music is a compilation of unused cues from James Horner's score for "Avatar". I hope you enjoy.

  • Looking at this now, the sound effects aren't as polished in some places as I'd like. I was a little premature in uploading this vid, however I don't know if it would be worth fixing or not now as the bits I'm not happy with are pretty minor. What do you guys think, leave as is or fix it?

  • Very good.

I've always been a big fan of you. You have great editing skills.

Also, would you be able to give the details of the specific music tracks you used, as I'm having trouble finding them.

  • @thecrunchcorner Certainly, the tracks I used are from “Avatar” (Collector’s Definitive Edition) also listed as “Avatar” (The Complete Score), and are as follows:

Disc 4, Track 4: “Bonding With Leonoptryx (Child)”

Disc 5, Track 6: “Fight To The Death (Insert)”

Disc 5, Track 7: “Fight To The Death (Original Start Only)”

Disc 3, Track 16: “Hometree Destruction (Pickup)”

    Disc 3, Track 17: “Long End P-U”

    I hope that helps.

  • @85KingofTexas I'm probably just being stupid now, but I'm having trouble finding a specific section of music. It starts at rougly 3:45 when the Tyrannosaurus bites down on the Triceratops.

  • @thecrunchcorner It's located on disc 5, the track is 7: “Fight To The Death (Original Start Only)”.

  • Brachiosaurs? In the Late Cretaceous period? Something's fishy there...

Great vid as usual, first time I've ever seen a Rex beat an Ankylosaur. But he died, so the status quo is unaffected, T-rex is once again trumped by the herbivores...

    I hate paleontology sometimes...

  • @Godzilla1704 According to the documentary, those are supposed to be Alamosaurs, large sauropods that lived toward the end of the Cretaceous. However, I thought that exactly, they look like what I would figure to be a Brachiosaur. In the end I figured it really didn't matter. Just think of how many times you saw a T. rex fighting an Apatosaur/Brontosaur in those good old dino flicks.

  • that was possibly the saddest video I have ever seen.

  • That was awesome...

But sadly unrealistic in many ways.

  • Thumbs up if you got a little teary-eyed watching this

  • Very nice SFX, good music selections and good using Triceratops sound effects from Jurassic Park! :D I love it! :)

This video is really more epic than ever. Truly, it's sad, but it's amazing.

  • @sinner56x rex was 18 feet tall top of head and 15 or 13 at hip and a triceratops could was 7 to 12 tons but rex was 9 to 10 tons

  • @sinner56x Rex was barely 15 feet tall. And Triceratops could weigh almost TWICE as heavy as rex.

  • @MrPwnagemeister in the show they were thats just there real size compared to a 42 foot 18 feet tall rex

  • T.Rex roar, from King Kong 1976

  • Very good job!!!

  • Erm....

Both of the Herbivores were somewhat small. Where they not fully grown?

  • @85KingofTexas Ah, got it now. Turns out there's a few variations of that track. I've been listening to the wrong ones. Thanks for the help. Keep up the good work.
