The tempo is ridiculously fast. The singing is excellent. But the high-water mark for this sextet was set by Karajan with Callas, di Stefano etc. in1956(?)

... agreed. the tempo was indeed at the upper limit (wonder why some conductors think they must rush). I believe those voices could have made more of it, had they just a bit more space. Particularly I liked Paverotti who showed incredibly agreesive presence, but also Flemming for her juvenile interpretation of Lucia, just the way it ought to be.

sounds a bit too rushed for me.NOTE. i'm not making any negative comments about these fabulous singers...just moving a little faster than I'm accustomed to. anyone else feel that way?
