  • Another excellent review, this movie is one of the most entertaining pieces of dung i ever watched.

It's the cinematic equivalent of comfort food. When life gets too stressful i pop in Nightmare City ( City of the Walking Dead ) and all is right with the world again, i can't get enough of it since i first witnessed it on VHS in the 80s.

I actually enjoy Hugo's performance in this, it's without a hint of irony or winking at the camera, it works in this surreal world

  • @clownprince88 Excellent comment...thank you.

  • Great review - I agree with your opinion of Lenzi. Keep up the good work, you've gained a subscriber.

  • @ShitheadSting69 Thank you!

  • hey freddiepipes, hugo stiglitz was also in the bizarre barely-a-jaws ripoff flick tintorera in 1977,it was more of a threesome porn flick in the caribbean than a sea monster story, you should check it out

  • @ladner3000moviebuff - lol Sounds right up my alley. I'll have to search that one out.

I wish more people would realize this, he made this film what it is, on accident. He was cashing a reluctant paycheck but a legend was born in the process.

The film is inherently silly and he portrayed the part on a level of seriousness akin to having to use the restroom while out in public with no restrooms around, a genuine emergency.

He was the only one who didn't get the joke and i'm grateful he didn't, it totally altered the original intention of this film

  • Maybe Hugo's zombie, infected, mutant fighting skills are to realistic in this movie, he should have hung from the rafters as he destroyed a million of the baddies.

How dare he come across as realistic while beating back the oatmeal brigade, should have done the spinning back kick reverse elbow one handed flea flicker move

  • @clownprince88

You're right, Hugo's deadpan, no nonsense portrayal is one of the reasons why I love Nightmare City. And his EPIC zombie fighting skills of course.

    LOL!

  • @TheNinjaJeremy

I agree with everything you said, there is something otherworldly about this film.

It's mainly because of the cheap production values but in this instance the film benefited from a low budget.

I work in a hospital and when i walk the halls and nobody is around i can't help but think of this film. I even have to extract people from elevators, i always feel like a mutant is going to pop out. Forget about when we have the rare power outage, freaky

I sort of feel like if he didn't play this part so serious it wouldn't have been as effective.

There is cheese flying from all angles and he doesn't even crack a smile or make a silly joke, his perf totally clashes but also somehow meshes with the madness on display.

I couldn't picture anyone else in the role since seeing him in this .

Hugo's character is the still center of the chaos in Nightmare City :)

  • Hugo Stiglitz= Chuck Norris's brotha, from another mother.

    BAMF!

There's is a great video tribute to his work in this film on this site.

Type in Dean Miller, Zombie Exterminator.
