You're right about how the gladiators worked. They trained hard, to fight in closed off areas where there's nowhere to run. They trained to be bigger and stronger and tuffer than there enemy. However big shields, and big muscles, make you slower. The apache speed is just to much of an advantage.

Alright for a second here just ignore that simulation... the simulation is for entertainment purposes only. That being said lets look at the advantages. Gladiator 1.Trident and net. 2. Sica(i think thats how its spelt.) Then the apache 1. bow and arrow. 2. The tomahawk. Okay the difference in my opinion was the gladiator had no really lethal weapon for long range c'mon a slingshot vs a bow and arrow thats a complete miss match! Just dominating close range isn't going to work against the apache.
