Back in the late 1980s when BLM did a flush of the Colorado River, I found a sand bar in one of the side channels near Fishers Landing that was black sand with a bunch of sparkels. I got a small coffee can full and took it back to my cabin and paned it out and got close to an ounce of gold. I could not find that freaking sand bar again. It was only accessable by water and I had my boat full of all sorts of containers.
