  • @happytobeproud True. He always gets in the fast lane at the pool and I end up having to swim around him the whole time. He might be one of the fastest runners in the world, but can't swim for shit.

  • wheating is a tall knob. hes a great runner, but completely irritates me.

  • Galen is fucking Beast

  • Four beasts together! 0:22, Galen Rupp's 8sticker is upside down

  • The 'tall dork' is an olympian.... and you cant give credit to one person because its a DMR Distance Medley Relay. Each person runs a different distance so there is no fastest leg.

  • and the mile

    =]

  • I don't think he tried to down play Galen,

it might have just sounded like it.

like that guy said, Galen is the toughest guy in college.

  • My past experiences w/ Andy affect how I hear him, so I claim relevance to what you think is tangential. In a relay, you don't give credit to just one person, ever, and I dont' think that was the intent of the first speaker anyway. This is supported by the comment about the coach setting up a tactical race and "we all did our thing". The 1st 3 runners set Rupp up well and he finished the job. The speaker expressed great confidence in Rupp, but wasn't giving him all the credit for the win.

  • You keep clouding the issue with your tangential points about your husband and your race in NH, etc. Irrelevant to my point. The guy second from left singles out Rupp by saying "once we got it to our boy right here, we were good to go." Implying Rupp was the man -- and would not be beat. Wheating seems miffed by this reference to Rupp as "our boy" and contradicts that idea by saying "you can't give credit to any one person." It came across as a bit awkward and envious, that's all.

  • I listened again and can't hear every syllable but the athlete to Wheating's left appears to complimenting Wheating for getting "it to our boy right here, good to go". Wheating is deflecting the praise and emphasizing the team effort. Very typical of his character. My husband coached him on the cycling team in high school. Described him as "happy to be here". See if you hear it differently on another listen.
