Spanish cyclist Alberto Contador, who is awaiting the outcome of a doping appeal hearing, cycled through Jerusalem's Old City on Tuesday (December 6).
The 29-year-old Contador came to Israel with his Saxo Bank team for a training camp ahead of next season.
Contador was accompanied on the ride through the city by his team-mates, Jerusalem mayor Nir Barkat and 100 cyclists from Israeli cycling clubs.
Earlier on Tuesday, Contador and his team met Israeli president Shimon Peres, who gave the champion a statue of Jerusalem as a present for his 29th birthday.
Contador gave the president a signed Saxo Bank T-shirt.
The three-times Tour de France champion said last month he wanted to win next year's tour, which could also serve as good preparation for the London Olympics.
