Low-speed Vehicles Get Failing Grade

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety recently performed crash tests on low-speed vehicles, and the results were not good. The IIHS is recommending that they not share public roads with regular traffic. (May 20)

We need light rail systems to be installed in every city that has a regular rush hour traffic jam. It is time we place the real culperate on hold the automobile. We also need fast rail systems to bridge the gap between large cities and end all the domestic flights that could be easily covered with proper planning. We need to get off of this oil addiction that is destroying our planet. Peak oil has passed we will have to do all this any way why not do it now while we still have drinking water.

It makes no sense, the way this video keeps showing a smart fortwo, in a report about LSVs. Somebody failed to do their research.

Why the heck is a smart getting pounded when this is about Low Speed Vehicles (LSV)?

LSVs have a top speed lower than a smart and aren't required to meet safety standards...

It's like driving a four wheeled motorcycle...

Why the heck is there a lot of video of the smart fortwo getting good crash test results in a video about LSVs getting poor crash results? The smart is NOT a low speed vehicle and it received good safety scores from the IIHS.

Do basic research before including video clips.

I say we let these LSV's on the roads & just let natural selection do its job. We have choices, if you want to drive a POS golf cart on roads where it's not safe & recommended, so be it. It will be up to the drivers to keep themselves safe from an accident.

Are you even remotely aware what the prius can do? I can drive to 85331 from 70769 in <24 hours get an average mpg~42 ~speed 65 max 80mph . I am handicapped I can't just throw a Fing thing together all I can do is drive and type anything more and I am bedridden for days.

This is a Bad mis informative Video report. Showing the crash test of the smart fortwo over an over out of context is just lazy reporting.

Please seek out the original IIHS Video at their web site. It shows the smart delivering a Fatal blow to the NEV just as the Ranger does to the Mini Trucks
