I think some people commenting are tone-deaf. The tuning is great:)
also you dont' need a damn pit-lamp to show the positioning - listen and figure it out, it's music. TorontoLarrivee has gotten you plenty close with this tutorial - BIG Thanks!

@TorontoLarrivee No thanks, no appreciation of the effort, just a complaint about the guitar? Seems unfair to me - thanks you!

Thank you for posting this... Very accurate, but I'm bummed that you didn't explain the fingerpicking patterns. To me it's the hardest part of song to learn. The chord fingerings (minus using the thumb) are actually pretty simple...

Great tutorial. I'm going to give it a shot.

@BennBrenner Yeah, it's an old guitar that's a bit tricky to get in tune. When did people abandon all manners at start barking orders at people who volunteer to help them learn something?

Hi, aweosme tutorial it helped a lot.\
I just curious as to what guitar you are playing? It seems to be a bit smaller and tighter, do you find that better for finger picking and such?

@FlyingThruCanyons it's an old Guild F20. Some people prefer small bodies guitars for fingerpicking because they're often built more lightly, and so are more responsive; they're also braced in a way that gives more balance across the strings. Sometimes the smaller guitars have a shorter scale too, meaning the strings have less tension & are easier to fret. Still, you can get a great tone fingerpicking a dreadnaught, especially if you dig in a little.

I get the picking pattern on the half D chord thing, but the picking when you switch to G is a little different, can I can't quite get it.
