CBYFP -- Convention Baptist Youth Fellowship of the Philippines --established to proclaim the Lordship of Jesus Christ. It exists to deliver the message of hope and love; to carry the emblem of harmony and unity.
The Convention Baptist Youth has sailed its course in the past 54 years. It has gone through a lot of storms and big waves. There were voyages when the leadership was tested; problems in relationships, differences and finances created uproars. During the Martial Law years, it was even feared that the sailing would stop. Yes, challenges tried to capsize it...but God's prevailing grace continued to envelop it with fortitude. Indeed, "For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope." (Romans 15:4)
Yes, this hope that comes from the Constant and Unseen Captain continues to plot the direction. Everyone has to join together in one heart and spirit to make the journey smooth sailing and eventually reach its destination. Each one is given this blessing: "May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ" (Romans 15: 5-6)
And the journey continues... It has docked in Luzon, Mindoro, Romblon, Palawan, Aklan, Antique and also in Eastern Mindanao; for many times in Negros and in Iloilo. This year it goes back to Capiz; and it's still charting its course to Western Mindanao. Yes, there were differences that arose, but; the bond of faith keeps it on course, as all are being reminded by this: "Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God." (Romans 15:7)
And today, CBYFP celebrates its "1ST Biennial Assembly and 53rd Youth Gathering".
The Spirit of this camp is Unity.
We live in an age of uncertainty, injustice, and division.
The call of our generation is to rid ourselves of things that divide and bear united witness to Christ's love which encompasses each and everyone.
"Christ over you, me, and us" is a creative mathematical formula that pictures a vibrant-living Christian community. It chooses Jesus Christ "the servant of all" as Lord over the citizens; values each member as equally unique; and has a significant role in the total well-being of the entire created enterprise.
"Christ over you, me, and us" exudes respect, appreciation, and love under the guidance and sustenance of the Holy Spirit. Once again, the Convention Baptist Youth Fellowship of the Philippines is hungry for "togetherness." For we know that when we are together and united, we have hope and that in our togetherness, we glorify God.
As young, growing Christians of the Convention of Philippine Baptist Churches,
the Scripture passage enlightens us to:
Revisit and learn from our past...
Revive our national identity and uniqueness...
Renew our vision...
Reflect and reclaim with other Christian brothers and sisters, what we have learned...
For the encouragement of our history provides, gives us hope.
For our unity glorifies God.
For our acceptance of one another brings praise to God.
For our zealousness strengthens our commitment.
For we are the future of the Convention of Philippine Baptist Churches.
For our service creates a harmonious community.
For we will carry the torch of victory.
For there is no me without you, and no us without Christ.
