First of all great music and song..
Now, who those spread hate between Bangladesh and Assam , please STOP.
We are from Bangladesh and we love Assami culture, songs very much.
Nothing bad if we find many similerity between 2 culture.. language..
In your place I would be very happy to find more relatives across the border then enimies.
Remember we (Bangladesh & Assam, India) been divided by wish & interest of third party... continue to hate each other they will take another chance...

There is a little confusion. First of all, this album is nowhere related to Bangladesh or the Bengali language. It is sung in Bagania language of Assam which has roots in the Nagpuri language of the Chotanagpur plateau of India, might sound similar to Hindi & Bengali. However, Bagania language is typical only of Assam & is actually identified as a sub-group of the greater Assamese language. This language is spoken by the tea garden community in Assam.

If there is no relation between the language, then how do I understand most of what she is saying? I am a Sylheti

Great song and fantastic video. With your lovely voice you have blown away my mind. Assam is a great place. It has many things to boast of -world famous tea, the most beautiful Bihu and a great beautiful culture. You have given us a lot. Bhupen Hazarika rocks. I grew up listening to his songs. He is my brother's and uncles' big favorite. Keep churning out more like him. Who needs an Ipod guys if you a songbird like Gayatri at your side. I am a Pahari Chakma from CHT, Bangladesh.

There are many indigenous ethnic in Chittagong Hill Tracts(CHTs, Bangladesh. I think you should aware during British period people easily access wherever they want to go, so many Assamese family have been living in CHTs, they yet not produce any film or song ownselve, it si a cultural exchange.
The Bengali language derive from Maghadi or Pali or Sanskrit, the ancient languages. So Bengali also not origin in this sense, all languages are independance now.
