"Delicious Solitude" is the second song in Goran Bregovic's "Silence of the Balkans" live album. The album has been recorded at his concert in Thessaloniki, Greece on December 30, 1997.

This track uses fragments of Andrew Marvell's poem "The Garden".

Lyrics:

When we have run, we have run
When we have run our passion's heat.
When we have run, we have run
Love hither makes his best retreat.
Your sacred plants, if here below,
Only among the plants
the plants will grow.

All but rude, delicious solitude.

When we have run, we have run
The quiet fair, have found thee here.
When we have run, we have run
and Innocence, thy sister dear.
No white nor red was ever seen,
amorous as this green
was ever seen.

All but rude, delicious solitude.
All but rude, delicious solitude.
All but rude, delicious solitude.

  • THANK YOU, OH THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR UPLOADING!!!! This is the first song from the movie "the serpent's kiss" The soundtrack is nowhere available, though it's full of beautiful music like this!!!

  • You're welcome :) I'm actually kinda surprised that it hasn't been uploaded earlier, it's one of this album's best songs.

  • Beautiful, original is better though

  • What is the original?

  • @nanyaverey Masz rację.Dzięki

  • @lillyaubergine Kayah's versions are not original and also not better. All of the songs by Bregovic & Kayah are just new versions of what he already recorded (and quite often even these versions are not original). I like all of the original songs more and I honestly don't know what motivated Bregovic to let her sing his songs :) Anyway, both arrangements have something interesting about them, but please don't state it as a fact that Kayah is better :) Pozdrawiam.

  • @Vlada996 haj to objasni na zapadu...ustvari prvo objasni gdje je balkan...

  • My youngest Brother just passed away this song is too good for any comments

  • KAYAH sings better :

Goran Bregovic with Kayah- Trudno kochać ( this is the original)

  • Sowdabeh, I will make you sad now. The singer is Lena Jinnegren from Sweden. She appeared in Goran Bregovics' "Silence of the Balkans" final ceremony for "Thessaloniki, cultural capital of Europe" in 1997, as the next cultural capital was Stocholm (1998). As she was singing, the giant screen behind was showing the message "greetings from Stocholm" I have it on videotape but very low quality. Great songs, pictures and costumes. Truly Balkanic !!

  • Delicious.
