I read this in a book of short stories a few years ago and really felt for the poor lady. It actually kind of creeped me out and I felt that the husband was intentionally trying to drive his wife crazy. 8-(

mplative,meek,submissive,pale and demure;which is why men frequented brothels to enjoy female companionship of the type most unlike their wives!The crushing,mind-numbing,paralysi ng boredom these women endured in the name of blameless behaviour would be beyond tolerance now. -

I played the young boy 'George' in this. I was so excited to be working with Carolyn Pickles whom I had admired so much in 'Bluebell'. We later did a radio play together too.
