Habang naghihintay ako ng sundo sa isang barangay sa Bago City, Negros Occidental... minabuti kong kunan ang isang pagkakataon ang isang obra na sikat na sikat sa Visayas ang "Turadsoy". Perfectly performed by a poor blind ilonggo for a living.

At least ang kababayan ni FG kumakanta para kumita. Si FG di naman bulag pero malakas kumapa ng pera na walang gitara.

The song is about a simple fish pulutan, Turadsoy, which became very popular in Panay and was the most sought inuman song during the 80's. Di pa uso ang videoke (anathema to our culture of harana and pinoy street jamming).

It is a reggae song before I heard Bob Marley in the early 80's in Boracay. Ayaw ko namang e claim na si Kamlon ang kompositor daw ng Turadsoy ay nauna pa kay Bob Marley mag reggae. Though historically, late 1960's daw ito: "As far as Jamaican record buyers were concerned, the origin of the word reggae was the 1968 Pyramid single by Toots and the Maytals "Do the Reggay" (sic). Other possibilities as to the origin of the word include Regga, the name of a Bantu speaking tribe on Lake Tanganyika and a corruption of "streggae," which is Kingston street slang for prostitute. According to Bob Marley, the word is Spanish in origin, meaning "the kings music" but according to veteran session musicians the word is a description of the beat itself. Hux Brown of the Skatalites and lead guitarist on Paul Simons 1972 hit "Mother and Child Reunion" says that it is "just a fun, joke kinda word that means ragged rhythm and the body feeling."

  • @TheToyota2000GT The song is about a fresh water fish he caught on the river. Then cooked it for his friends, if im not wrong its a "fish-soup". His friends liked it very much, so then he knew that his cooking was great. As it goes along towards the end of the song it is described as "spicy-fish-soup".
