  • In spite of, or rather because of the great heroic efforts that ones hears in the laboured breathing of the performer and constant creaking of the instrument's soul, it is easy to see why this wonderful piece makes very poor lute music: for the lute never sounds fluid here, as it always does when this performer plays something that can fit on the lute.

  • from Jose' Sepulveda, the hermeterec from Brazil......Hopkinson Smith is a startling phenomenon on that lute. This man is a GREAT musician....I play this on guitar and I know how tough it is....I'm betting it is even tougher on the lute. I have a new musical hero......and his name is Hopkinson Smith.

  • God. I want a lute.
