This video is made from a few thousand pictures taken by my GoPro HD Hero set to take a picture every 2 seconds from my helmet. We were riding up the Old McKenzie Highway in Oregon (Highway 242). We parked at the ranger station on Hwy 126 on the west side of the pass and rode the 24-25 miles up to Dee Wright Observatory. We did the ride on June 25, 2011. The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) had plowed the snow off the upper section of the road, but left the gates locked. This is a perfect time to ride the road as there will be no traffic other than bikes and hikers on the upper section. The ride is in my Top-Ten-Rides-On-Earth because of the surreal landscape as you ride through the lava fields in the upper section as you approach the summit at 5325 feet. Over all, from the ranger station, it's right about 50 miles and 4100 vertical feet of climbing. If you get a chance you really must ride it.

  • cool vIdeo! Can you tell me the name of the song?

  • @zofro Just one I pulled off of YouTube's editor program. It should say on the right side under the video.

  • Oh weird, it doesn't say what the music track is any more. I forget what the name of the group was. I literally just poked around on YouTube's editor until I found a song I liked for the video...

  • Nice vid bro! Hey did u ever get around to take offfffff the tundra door panel?

  • @lapd1989 Haven't had to get into the door panel of the Tundra yet. Hate to pull the panel off unless I have a legitimate reason to go in there. Those plastic clips they use to attach the panels like to break sometimes...
