you have to remember its 1984 LA is hosting the olympics and really at that time where else are amateurs going to go there was no real pro wrestling mma or ufc around

@mastermold2009 I think there was nothing wrong with this as they were honoring the spirit of the olympics. Before becoming a professional, I competed as amateur and appreciate those with a background. I'll state that maybe Mr. Gagne could have allowed himself to be a bit more open minded, however though despite going out of business he never once sold out his morals and values. One has to respect that!

And this is why Verne and the AWA lost the wrestling wars. While the WWF was poaching all their stars and leaving their competitors in the dust, the AWA was showing amateur wrestling...

This is fantastic! I never saw real greco style amateur wrestling performed in a "pro" ring before. I think that this true wrestling is more enjoyable to watch.
