Now onto part 3 of this surreal adventure known as The Thief and the Cobbler, aka Arabian Knights.

For those who don't know, Richard Williams originally conceived this movie to be his masterpiece, until in 1992 when Warner Bros. had backed out of the project (they had planned to distribute the movie) because Richard Williams, a brilliant animator, had taken his time to work on the movie (he was more concerned about the special animated effects in the movie than the story), and the people at Warner's had disliked a rough cut and fearing competition over Disney's Aladdin, had the older movie been finished. It was picked up by the Completion Bond Co. in 1993 where it was produced now by Fred Calvert, who was notoriously known for cheaply made Saturday morning cartoons from the 1970's on. So the movie ends up like this... a cheaply made animated movie that was meant to be a masterpiece by a highly talented artist, even though some of Williams' animation exists in the two cuts released in the 1990's as well as the Recobbled Cut.

Once again I highly advise for you to see the other 2 releases (Princess and the Cobbler and The Thief and the Cobbler - Recobbled Cut), and also see the R.W. workprint as well.

  • is this the real version??

like the words and everything, like if i buy it on DVD will it be like this?

  • @hellokittysmileyface This is the Miramax version released in 1995, which ruined the director's intent of the film. And yes, this is on DVD, but only in Full screen, and if you buy it, it is rare so I suggest you buy it online if you do.
