  • Bob Arnold from The Folkel Minority is my Speech professor at Richland College :D

  • I haven't heard this one since 1978, when Dr. Demento played it during his "Funny Five" countdown. Thanks for posting.

  • Governor Dolph Briscoe passed away just a little more than a year ago on June 27, 2010. He was the last great Democrat that ran for Texas Governor that I have ever voted for. I have voted for Republican Governors ever since because the Democrats got totally stupid.

He was a fine Governor and a Great man. I am glad that he was immortalized in this song. RIP.

  • I too have been singing this song! It's one of my big favorites of the late 70's. I lived in Northern California. My dad & brother had driven to Texas and returned with this gem, and I hardly understood it but fell in mad love with it, including the B-side, Tribute To the Trinity. Now I'm a Texan and I get it!

  • AWESOME! My mom had this 45 when I was a kid growing up in Midland TX back in the late seventies. Great song. I was singing it the other day. THANK YOU!

  • The full choir at the ACDA is at this youtube ID OoiQUbcp8_M I don't know how to link it

  • When I was a teen the father across the street was a member of The Vocal Majority, a men's choir in Dallas. The Folkel Minority was a sub-group of the choir. They also had several barbershop quartet subgroups.

  • No way!! Dolph Briscoe just died and it reminded me of this song. I can't believe someone actually posted. Awesome!!
