Jessie Matthews - Hello Young Lovers

Jessie Matthews sings 'Hello, Young Lovers' from Rodgers & Hammerstein's 'The King & I' on a soundtrack LP released in 1966, with footage from her breakthrough film 'Friday the Thirteenth' (1933). It was around this time that Paul McCartney expressed an interest in writing songs for Jessie, who was undergoing a revival in her career following her role as Mrs Dale in the radio serial 'Mrs Dale's Diary'. She never performed 'The King & I' on stage, being nearly 60 when this recording was made.

I can remember listening to Mrs Dales Diary with my grandmother every afternoon at around 4.15pm, i think the last words ever spoken were Jessie saying " Im a little bit worried about Jim" or something like that. Does anyone know how i can listen to a recording of the theme tune? Thanks Martyn.

Hello. Thanks a lot for your comment. I'm hoping to make more videos with songs from The King & I LP. It seems to be pretty rare, so it would be nice to share it. My copy is a bit scratchy, but better than nothing.
