There are three times to a Chinese meeting, before the meeting, after the meeting and during the meeting. The one time Chinese do not decide things is during the actual meeting. Meetings are for maintaining harmony and relationships, decisions and arguments are made before and after.

I'm not sure I agree totally...Chinese views of women in the business world are different, especially in more rural settings. Women may be naturally better at picking up certain aspects but thier status may hinder thier progress in some instances. If you really want to do good business with Chinese learn the language and culture.

Good points. I agree that in rural and highly traditional settings women would be at a disadvantage. In reality though, few Westerners get close to such situations or conditions.

Western women would do better than Western men in the Chinese business environment. Just think about it.

I totally agree about Western women being successful. Because so much of Chinese communication and relationships are built of non-verbal "feelings" and "guessing," and women are usually much better at this that men, esp. the Type A-personality men so often sent to Asia for some "international experience."

I am slightly confused. If nothing is decided "during" the meeting, then aren't these other "meetings" before and after the same thing except with less parties involved? Are they meeting face-to-face or is the disagreement and decision-making occurring though a non-direct medium?

Excellent video. I live in China with a Chinese wife. Many times I dont understand why she seemingly behaves very badly towards me. I later learn that she isnt behaving badly but doings things correctly in her own culture. Sometimes she seems very irrational and we have long stand-offs. This is usually a problem because I havent understood what was going on my inability to read the signals she thinks shes clearly sending out. Where can I find some info on a more personal level?

But you are missing the point Ish. Evil is not about Communism or Capitalism.. i wont deny the CCP isnt the best party China could be having. But to say its just evil is bit overboard. If it was all chinese would be stuck im house basically like George orwell's 1984. But i do agree chinses are starting to waver but fact is their running the country and to just swap parties in one day is impossible cause china is such a big country. China has seen a move toward capitalism. its not like a communist state anymore.
