  • Thanks for your comments. Model rairoading is FUN !!

  • Good Lord. I apologize for the agitation I have caused you in mis-representing this model of a train. I never thought it would bringn such criticism. Lighten up ! One only lives once and if Helio wants to call it the Panama Limited is it so bad ? It's his model railroad. I would think he can call his train whatever he wants to call it.

  • One thing we can all agree on is that the Illinois Central had a nice passenger color scheme & one that model train manufacturers would want to decorate their cars with.

  • @lthrpapa Thanks for the info about the train...I am trying to make my own N scale layout problably featuring this train. Any other info?

  • Very nice! My family owns a model of the "City Of New Orleans". It was a gift for my great-grandfather's 90 something birthday. He used to work in the post office car back in the days.

  • Lthrpapa's comments are correct. I suppose this is the difference between TOY TRAIN and Prototype Modeling. The really sad part is the by using the Walthers cars one can model the Panama Limited in 1945, pretty close to the prototype, 6-6-4 and 4-4-2 Pullmans, along with a smooth side diner, 18 Roomette, lounge, and round end observation. My Panama Limited is correct, right down to the neon sign on the observation car Gulfport that states, Panama Limited.

  • Please do not call this train the Panama Limited, cause it isn't even close. The Panama Limited was all Pullman Sleeping Cars. With those E-7's on the point, that places the train in 1945-49 time frame due to the extra strips on the E units. A little while before the CP "Skyline" Budd domes were built. And again please no coaches in the train.

  • coaches were added to the previously all pullman car panama limited in mid 1969 to boost patronage, and also the ic try to convince the public that the new coach section added to the panama limited was a new train called the "magnolia star"!

  • no, until january 1969 the panama lmtd carried a streamlined fish-tailed pullman lounge-observation car

  • I was beinging to wonder if that train was ever going to end! Nice job, but certainly the Panama would have a bob-tail obs?
