Deadly car bomb rocks Johannesburg just two days before Elections. This is the CBS EVENING NEWS with Deborah Norville.

Final weekend of campaigning interrupted by deadly car bomb. 9 killed, nearly 100 injured. Voting will begin on Tuesday. Allen Pizzey reports. Johannesburg traffic cop. Everything shattered, windows, doors, everything. ANC official among dead. Move back please. Police forensic evidence sift for clues, no claims of responsibility. Carl Niehaus, A.N.C. Spokesman: Democracy must win against political intimidation and violence. Inkatha rally gunfire killed one person at least. Mangosuthu Buthelezi, Inkatha Freedom Party hopes it's an isolated event. 100 000 people turned out to see Nelson Mandela, A.N.C. President, in Natal.

MZR 358 T. Devastated streets of central johannesburg may be sealed off for rest of elections. Allen Pizzey, CBS News.

Intent was clear - wreck any chance of peaceful end to 340 years of white rule. SOUTH AFRICA ELECTIONS. Tuesday: First time 75% have been eligible to vote. Bill Whitaker reports on voter education.

When you see rally, hard to believe that South Africa will undergo revolution merely through power of vote. 4 REDES OM TE STEM. Cape tentative steps toward democracy. Come to learn how to vote. Antione Van Niekerk, Voter Educator is probably Antoine Van Niekerk or even Anton Van Niekerk, you never know how these morons will spell it. Rural area folk are scared of voting. Near fields, on shop floor, classes like this all across country. Crash-course in democracy. Abraham Mjoli, New Voter - this is very important to me, we never get a chance to vote.

Another farm, last white weekend. Majority of people is not ready, says Dutchman - clearly he's not ready. Rebecca Tetley, Jean Engelbrecht. She's voting for ANC cos it's "morally right." Ultra-right wingers don't want Apartheid back, just want own place in the sun.
