Danielle Ayan, GISP, Georgia Tech Research Scientist, 2008 Outgoing Chair of the Georgia GIS Coordinating Committee, identifies the Geospatial Landscape in Georgia in an effort to elicit stakeholder input for a statewide Geospatial Strategic Plan. This is a Cooperative Agreement Project (CAP) funded by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) via the Fifty States Initiative. This introdouctory session highlights the following:

* Georgia's current investment in geospatial technology
* The strong geospatial community and expertise in Georgia
* The ties between geospatial solutions and a Healthy, Safe, Growing, Educated, Best Managed Georgia
* Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) regarding Geospatial coordination at the state, regional and local levels
* Solicits input from stakeholders for establishing an effective, enterprise Geospatial Program in Georgia
