Just 3 days after the 400m final where Michael Johnson ran an Olympic Record of 43.49, Johnson also broke his own 200m WR of 19.66 he set back at the '96 Olympic Trials with a clocking of 19.32 at the 1996 Olympics to become the first and only man to win both the 200m and 400m at the same Olympics. The record stood for 12 years. Frankie Fredericks placed 2nd with 19.68 and Ato Boldon 3rd with 19.80.

    I wonder what he would have run today with fewer rounds and the advances in technology and training. Probably could have dropped a couple 100ths. As to doping, I seriously doubt Johnson used performance enhancers, he was a low 10 second 100m runner and probably the best conditioned sprinter who ever lived. If Bolt could get as conditioned as Johnson was without losing any speed (extremely unlikely), he easily could go sup 19. But I think the time will get very close to 19s in the next few years.
