Save Our Sonics and KJR 950AM put on a tribute concert for the departed Seattle SuperSonics in Jan. 2009, eight months after the team played its last game in Seattle. After 41 years of loyal support from Seattle fans, Clay Bennett and David Stern moved Seattle's team to Oklahoma in 2008, leaving a huge hole in the heart of the Emerald City. This video features appearances by the Sonics Dance Team, Seattle legend Big Lo, funk band Direct Supply and a colorful speech by local sports radio personality Dave "Softy" Mahler.

  • Softy's Speech was beautiful.

I still miss the sonics man...team of my childhood.

  • You have no idea Lost, it's been brutal.

  • yeah thanks LostOwns.

41 years in Seattle. no pro team has ever moved after being in a city that long.

and you're welcome for Rashard Lewis ;-)

  • if you want a team you better drive yo ass down to portland

  • Seattle SuperSonics forever!!!!!

    bring em back HOME!!!!!

  • There are people in public office in our great country who serve the people with honesty and honor, yet people like Greg Nickels and Rod Blagojevich turn politician into a dirty word. They are filthy and corrupt and need to be ran out of public service forever. Nickels is a disgrace and will be remembered forever as Seattles worst failure.

  • Throughout that whole proceeding, mayor Nickels declared over and over again there was not the option of a cash settlement, he pledged the lease would be enforced for the final two years. Then he abruptly accepted the bribe and said his concern was the danger of the NBA leaving in 2 years and not coming back. Politicians that lie and do the opposite of what they promise are garbage.
