thank you. thank you. thank you. Toby Charles is the voice of my youth. I actually studied German as an undergraduate major as a result of this show. And I still support Gladbach as a result of this era of Hans-Günter Bruns. Also, remember the half time shows? PBS has not done better since.

"Soccer Made in Germany" was the show that got me interested in pro soccer. I watched it every week on Channel 9 in St. Louis when I was a kid. I didn't remember what Toby Charles sounded like, so thank you for this.

Ah, what memories! Thank you for posting this celebratedmisterk. So good to hear Welschman Toby's voice again. I understand that he is still living, now 72 years old. Is that right? And I read that he is living somewhere just by Cologne in Germany. "Soccer Made in Germany" was a fantastic show. Bundesliga! Bundesliga! Please post more "Soccer Made in Germany" clips, if you have them. Seeing the "R" for replay in the screen corner really brings back dear footballing childhood memories. Danke!

Celebrated, you're awesome.... the Rowdies games, and now Soccer Made in Germany! I'm getting the best sports highlights of ages 9-11 back, finally! Looking for a Bayern highlight where I can still hear Toby ripping "Room-en-nigg-ah" off his thick Brit accent, heh =D

The one played here is not 'Shame', but a few years later SMIG switched to 'Shame', I definitely remember it!

I remember SMIG back in the late '70s when I was a kid. Because of that program and watching the '86 WC on Univision (in Spanish, of course), I have grown to love the beautiful game! Now we've Fox Soccer and GOLTV in english to satisfy my Soccer fever! Thank you, PBS, Toby Charles, Tony Tirado and the person responsible for uploading this video!

"Well here we are and there you have it!" So right - nothing better than watching SMIG Saturday afternoon and heading to a summer league match inspired and on top of the world with Toby still ringing out.............."Have a piece of that!"

I loved Toby Charles, so not like American jock casters

haha, I did the same thing

This literally was the only soccer on TV after the death of the NASL. Until the 1990, this was what english speaking television had. It was a lonely world being a soccer fan in America back then. No one to share the game with , just a largely apathetic and hostile public.
The old days weren't so good, for something , lol
I'd buy them all on dvd just to watch them again.
I do not know.
