  • Hi Turbo231

Great video! I cleaned the carberator, however after I started it up it ran full throttle! It seems that the governor arm is not pushing back on the throttle assembly to slow the engine speed down. The assembly and spring is all reconnected as before. How does this governor arm work? is there something inside the crankcase that may have got disconnected? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • @MarleneKrueger You are in luck, look for a governor/carburetor video tomorrow, showing the relationship between it and the carb. Will be on a very similar machine.

  • @Turbo231 - can we clean the carburettor with WD-40 or Liquid Wrench ???

  • @MrMilitantviper Yes, those will work too...pretty much any solvent will help you clean the parts.

  • my riding mower wont start ive had it for 3 years never had a problem alway changed every yhink on it for the summer but i wased it the other night and i got it stated today but it die like 10 seconds later do u think there is water in the bowl

  • Picked up a 4.5 HP Craftsman Tecumseh. Took me ten minutes to figure out the "bolt" or main jet that holds the float bowl on had a hole straight through the middle of it. Must have pushed too hard when I cleaned all the gunk out...Looked like it was actually designed to have a hole straight though the middle for cleaning...got that re-sealed with a stem of a q-tip and ran like a top. Had to "MacGyver" it til I can get a new bolt. Excellent video. Looks like it helped a lot of folks.

  • God bless you brother I was planning to get rid of my mower after many searchs I ended up here thanks to your video my mower runs brand new!! GOD BLESS!!

  • My Craftsman mower has been hard to start for a long time, and when it does start, it sputters a lot. I'm going to go try this now. Thanks!

  • Thank you very much for the clear instruction. I have a Craftsman 6.0 with B&S engine which quit on me almost 2 years ago. Even though the carb is a little different, I was able to follow your instructions on removing the gas tank and the bowl. The jet was indeed clogged and the bowl showed some water. I blasted the carb and the lines just like you did with carb cleaner and soaked the jet in the same. After I put everything back, I was able to start the engine with just one pull. Thanks.

  • Thank you for the video, took about 15min and now my lawnmower works again. You rock!

  • thanks much, saved my Sunday afternoon! Cheers!

  • thanks, i have a craftsmans 6 hp lawnmower where the engine is the same maker as yours. i am experiencing hard starting and it when it starts it will only run for a few seconds. Takes a while to get it to the point where it wont do this and eventually it will start and run continuous. I'll try what you did and see if that will fix the problem

  • @Turbo231 Thank you! I can't wait to see the video tomorrow. My neighbors will be happy to see a weed free lawn!
