I just wanted to explain the issue of carrying guns outside in public. In Texas you can open carry a rifle (long gun) but not a pistol. You must get a lisence to carry a pistol concealed (and it can't be visible). In most other states including California it is legal to open carry a pistol in public (just search it, "open carry in california") which would make Texas laws more restrictive in carrying guns in public than most other states, including california.

@LovesMassEffect well said. likely we won't get invaded. although it could happen. what has happened to "to each, their own"? 911 is not going to plug that thief or nut that breaks in at 3 am. i'm inclined to have one. in the area in which i live, it's a good idea. (limited police force and druggies everywhere.) the criminals will still have weapons (they don't care about laws). so why not the the normal citizens? am i right?

regulated right? sounds like they are calling it a privilage. Sure don't let felons or violent criminals buy em, but other than that, it is not a privilage, it is a right to defend ourselves.

Guns are more about protecting the home. Its about national security. Would there have been slavery if the would be slaves had been armed before capture? Would the jews have been massacred in WWII had they been armed to the teeth? Lastly if we are ever at war and a country is about to invade, I want me and my community to fight back. The sad thing is people are so programed that they don't realize these things can happen again.

Gun Control: Because only Governments and criminals should carry guns...

Gun Control: Because being stabbed, bricked, driven down or beaten to death is so much nicer.

Gun Control: Because were scared about things we have no understanding of. *sigh...Guncontrol ONLY harms innocent law abiding citizens. Criminals LOVE gun control. Why is that so hard for some people to grasp?!

So according to the court, if your right to defend yourself with a gun ends at the threshold of your front door, then once you leave your house you no longer have the right to defend yourself? That's BS, I'm glad it isn't so, because actually, in most states you can legally carry a concealed handgun in public if you have a permit issued by your county Sheriff.

Just about anything can be used as a weapon if you do it right...and psychos will always do it right. People that murder obviously don't give a rats ass about breaking the law...so adding another law to stop them from breaking the law, won't exactly make them lose sleep at night. The only thing the laws stops is law abiding citizens...duh.
