Chapter 36: Summer Tour and Lovesick Melodies
"Summer tour?" I ask as my throat burns. I look at my managers face; his name is Joel York, his son Luke is in my band. Joel looks dead serious, I can't go on tour, that means I have to be away from Nick.
"Yes, you will be opening for Demi, it's good publicity, and you need to put on more shows if the album is going to sell good. People need to know more about you, Joyce. And this will get you more interviews, maybe you'll get nominated for an award, Teen Choice Awards for instance." He said with his grey eyes shining, like a little kid, waiting to open his presents on Christmas morning. I frown slightly. A part of me wanted to go, a part of me didn't, but I kind of had to do this tour, as Joel said it'd be good for me, publicity. I've always wanted to win an award, Breakout Artist of the year, Female Artist of the year, Rock Woman of the year, if there's a category with that name?
"Okay," I said with a sigh. I just had to figure out things with Nick. I couldn't just leave him behind, maybe he could come? That's be great! I'd love that, he would love that! I smile to myself, and if I didn't know how to maintain control of myself, I'd be jumping up and down of excitement.
"Sounds good, I will work out the details, and I will schedule a photo shoot for you and Demi together for the tour poster. The dates have already been settled, you will kick it off in Dallas in exactly two weeks."
"Wait, two weeks? That soon?"
"Yes, the sooner, the better. I've also arranged a meeting for tomorrow with everybody about the tour, so you have to be here around noon, I will text you the details." Joel is probably more excited than I am.
"Okay, can I go now?" I ask, Joel smiles and nods. I get from the chair I was sitting in, and I left his office. I look at the huge wall pictures of all their artists. Nick, Kevin and Joe, Demi, Selena and The Scene, Miley Cyrus, and now I'm hanging there next to Demi, Selena and The Scene had come up after me. I had helped Selena write a song on her album called The Way I Loved You, it turned out great, it described how I would feel if Nick and I ever broke up. My album would be hitting the stores on July second. Which was in a month exactly, the album is called Broken Hearts & Selfish Thoughts, because many of the songs is about Nate.
I left the building, and get into my car, I just sit and stare into the thin air for a while, I consider calling my producer John Fields and ask if he has time for me in the studio. I needed to record vocals for my song Stop This Song (Lovesick Melody), I had written it about Nick the day before I was hospitalized, I surrendered the following day. But I need to talk to Nick, about this tour and ask him to tag long. I pull my phone out of my pocket, I find Nick's number on speed dial, and call him. I know he's doing an interview and has his phone turned off, but I just leave a message.
I call John and he says he has time for me. So I turn on my car, and drive to the recording studio. I'm greeted by John when I enter studio number two.
"I heard about tour," he says when I stand behind the glass wall. I nod and smile weakly. He begins the song, and I look at the sheet music in the stand.
