Since the very day that it was formed the American financial system of banks, brokers, and Wall Street traders has been plagued with scandals. But from every scandal that broke, we got a new set of laws and regulations that were supposed to fix these problems. Well, given the number of scandals that have emerged over the last few years, I'd say its time for a complete overhaul of this system. Mike
Papantonio of Air America's Ring of Fire talks about the history of America's financial scandals, and what we can do to help put an end to the white collar theft that's been taking place on Wall Street for the last 8 years with Steve Koepp, editor of Fortune Magazine.

what would these wall street bankers have to say if they tried this kind of wholesale thievery in the middle east? or russia? or china?

nothing. that's what. they would have been hunted down and killed by now by the public wanting their money back.

Actually capitalism is fine. As long as it isn't

capitalism out of control to the point where

people are expecting to make profits off natural

disaster relief for the rich, toxic assets, war

contracting, the sick and elderly, and prisons.

That is capitalism out of control, and that's

what will continue to ruin this country if we

don't stop it soon. Capitalism works just

fine in Britain, Canada, Japan, India where

    it's not running wild.

Thank you. Dont tell that to conservatives who yell "big government" when any common sence is suggested.

I think Ayn Rand and Adam Smith would be dismayed by what passes for capitalism today.

Capitalism is the problem. And there is no such thing as a free market economy.
