Mary Jo Catlette played the third housekeeper (Pearl), on "Different Strokes". Also, she played in several Black Flag commercials, in the 1980's.

OMG I heard they had done this for TV, but never believed it. I'm a big fan of the movie, but I can see how back in the 70s they had a mega hit so I can see how some hollywood bigwigs translate Bigscreen success = success on little screen.

Nevertheless, it is very hard to closely imitate other actors, especially if these are dramatic actors imitating comedic actors. Barry Bostwick is not known for klutziness. Deborah Raffin is not known for ditziness. Maybe a cute and perky blonde character actress, like, let's say, Anne Bloom of "Not Necessarily the News," could make it work as Gloria.

Foul Play the series premiered in 81 (according to IMDb).
