Paul Thomas Anderson's films (although few in number) are among the most inspiring, ambitious and emotionally involving of the past fifteen years. They surround a vast variety of themes such as chance, power, loneliness, religion and love. Each of his films flawlessly incorporates handfuls of elements like this, which with ensemble casts isn't too hard if give each of them their own story. However the thing I find most fascinating about his films is how beautifully he can interweave these characters, storylines and themes (especially in Boogie Nights and Magnolia). PTA's films have had a profound effect on my life, some of them ranking in my all time favorites. So why wouldn't I tackle PTA for my latest director tribute? I hope you all enjoy this, more director tributes can be expected over the coming months!
