You seriously need an Arduino to make an LED flash to the beat of music? I think not.
A simple transistor connected to the sound impact sensor will do just fine and is MUCH smaller.
If you want to get REAL fancy, an LM3916, some LEDs and a few other parts make a good light show. /watch?v=uOw_Ynx1tGc
