that happened to me before, the exact same thing with the electric start....but all my battery needed was one of the terminals was slightly tightend as it was a bit loose.

@UKScootz I ended up getting a new battery, it discharged itself over a few days when I removed it from the bike, so something was wrong with it, yeah.
Plus there was a big electrical fault which messed up the 'dashboard' lights, and the tachometer, and the speedometer :P
Old age is catching up with it! Poor bike...
