The Fifth Moment's new look and second performance at the 2011 International Dinner. (We miss you Justin and Kevin!)
For those of you who don't know, our ever-changing band consists of statistics grad students attending NCSU. This is our way of unwinding after countless hours of deriving likelihoods and running simulations. As we are influenced so much by what we do all day, we (meaning Kristin) changed these lyrics from the original song "If We Ever Meet Again".
Vocals / Keyboard: Bradley Turnbull and Kristin Linn
Lead Guitar: Sidd Roy
Rhythm Guitar: Joe Usset
Bass : Kyle White
(We of course do not own any part of this song - thanks to Timbaland/Katy Perry for creating it.)
LYRICS
Verse 1:
What's somebody like you
doing in a place like this?
Did you come alone,
or with a frequentist?
What's your name? What's your prior?
Be my conjugate forever.
What's your best design?
Tell me yours I'll tell you mine.
What's somebody like you
doing in a place like this?
Chorus:
I'll never be the same,
if you'd be my Bayesian.
Won't let you get away,
if you'd be my Bayesian.
Markov chains
are my game.
Take me home
and we'll converge together babe.
I'll never be the same,
if you'd be my Bayesian.
Verse 2:
Do you come here much?
I've gotta know what sampler you like.
Hope you don't see me blush
when you tell me Gibbs and slice.
You might be a little biased,
but you know what, I don't mind it.
You give me what I need
a little more efficiently.
Do you come here much?
I've gotta see your Bayes some more,
some more, cause baby, Chorus.
Bridge:
If you'd be my Bayesian,
we could run so many chains.
If you'd be my Bayesian,
we could autocorrelate.
Repeat.
My posterior changed after listening to this song!
