First off, great vid.
I could use some help though. I can send mail locally on the Mercury server but I can't sent to another mail server, the Jobs just sit in the pending state in the status queue. This is the error message generated: Temporary error 249 (temporary MX resolution error) resolving 'hushmail.com'. I don't have a domain name, is this necessary? Could I use a sub-domain?
Thanks in advance.

Hey Im having a major problem.
I know I forward the ports and I own a domain. But when I connect in thudnerbird it does not work. But when I use localhost it does. Help?

Excellent tutorial.
I don't know if this will help out others, but this is how I was able to get my mail server working:
I believe port 25 is being blocked by my ISP. So instead, for the "MercuryC SMTP Client", when using "smtp.gmail.com", I used connection port 465 with "SSL encryption using direct connection."

@cradic3143 Lol thank you, I spent about a week of trial and error to get it working and didn't want anyone else to have to go through the trouble I did. Hope this helped! :)

how can i make my emails say "root@domain.com" instead of gmail or something
iammexicancuziam 1 year ago
@iammexicancuziam Follow these steps! :)
GMail -> Settings -> Accounts and Imports -> Send mail from another address -> Follow steps -> Then, when you're back on 'Accounts and Imports', go to "When receiving a message:" and have it "Reply from the same address the message was sent to"
Let me know if that works!

Nice tutorial. Please help me. I am getting an error:
An error occurred sending mail: The mail server sent an incorrect greeting: Cannot connect to SMTP server 115.240.41.84 (115.240.41.84:587), connect error 10061.
Why is this happening? Thnx

@vimarshraina The SMTP server IS your server, so 115.240.41.84 (your server) cannot connect. I know I'm just reading back the error, but look closer. You'll notice it says (115.240.41.84:587). At the end, the ":587" is the port. At the beginning of the video I told you the ports to forward, but left out port 587. All you have to do is forward that port OR in Thunderbird, you need to change it from port 587 to 25.
Let me know if this works for ya. Remember - Google is your friend!
