  • Wow Mike. That is a killer find. that is the type of rotor that I needed for my 48 ft. rotating tower. I've been following your vids for some time and love the ham clips.

73's and keep them comeing. Bob NE7NE

  • @papioscarw Hi Bob! Well I forget I have a ham or two that watch! I'll have to get some video of some other stuff ham related! Probably time to trim back the rose bushes and I could get a shot of the surge arrestor box (can't remember if I've done that before) and such :> ....we should work up a sched one of these days! Michael de W5NIG

  • @papioscarw Oh, BTW I would LOVE to have a rotating tower! lol :> Stack a couple of beams on the puppy and turn the whole thing! Niiiiice!

  • I mostly follow your HVAC videos but this seems interesting too. What is that worm drive for? What is the main application and use of the stuff you have on the kitchen counter?

  • @fyescas777 All amateur radio gear, this rotator will be mounted on the top of my tower with a few large antennas on it, both probably have 30ish foot booms so it's a lot of torque. :>

  • Hey whats up Mike , man that thang looks like it Weighs a Ton !!! Does it go at base of tower , or on top ? Will you get your buddy with the Fire Truck to Hoist you up to install ? Would like to see some Video of that , if you getta chance too !!! Looks like yall had a good time , and made a Nice Haul !!! That made you Happy as a Kid in a Candy Store !!!

  • @fritzhvac True I was a happy camper! need to test it out today or tomorrow. It IS heavy!! the worm gear control eliminates the need for a brake wedge like the old one does and has a greater degree of control on pointing the antennas.

Definately a fire truck install! Not sure if I will mount it first and haul the tower section and it up or haul it up by itself. Killing me that I spent my antenna money on it though but it was TOO GOOD a deal to pass up! Paid $700 US, retails for 1900!!

  • @mikie2501 Hi Mike . That is a U.S. Towers MA40 / w 8 ft ext. And rotating base. I had a 6 ele interlaced 3ele20 with a 3ele 15 and 4ele 10 mtr stacked above and at the top was a 14 ele 2 mtr quagy. It takes a lot of torqe to turn and hard on wedge brakes. The one problem with this is attaching the 40/80 meter dipoles to it. A Short piece of rope cured that problem.

  • thats a very nice unit. have fun with it.
