James Kalm stumbles into a unique display of photographic invention with this exhibition of Kim Keevers recent work. Using an original technique of building and photographing underwater dioramas, Keever is able to create fantasy scenes that capture all the mood and mystery of the Romantic landscape painters most specifically the Hudson River School. Combining the photos with his original music and video, Keever engulfs the viewer in a personal world of faux-natural beauty exploiting the audiences desire for a return to a perfect, allbeit synthetic, world. Featuring an interview and a studio visit with artist Kim Keever.

  • James- Once again you've introduced me to an artist I may have otherwise not been aware of. The work and process are absolutely amazing! Thanks.

  • That was a fabulous bit of documentary, JK, one of your best pieces, he's really an amazing process artist to go through that much preparation to achieve that kind of result. Thanks!

  • I can finally use the word "phantasmagorical" before I die.

  • Wow. Great artist.

  • my new favorite artist. all his photographs make great backgrounds for the desktop

  • Actually a few graffiti guys and sidewalk painters are good at these techniques with spray cans. Of course prior to CG effects companies, old Hollywood matt specialists were masters of this. Old German romantics and Russian naturalists and rich old ladies would be proud. Nice guy, hope he continues experimenting.

  • Fantastic! This is what its all about.

    Thanks James.

  • Thank you James Kalm. Best-
