One of the undercredited and underrecognized performers, though he probably doesn't care about fame as much as he loves to play.
Dave is truly an amazing pianist.

Had the pleasure of seeing Mr. McKenna play at the Copley in Boston, and down the Cape at the Flying Bridge in Hyannis. Beautiful musical memories. RIP.

I've watched this about 20 times and I'm still speechless! I don't even play the piano and if this is anything to go by, I don't think I ever could - brilliant!!!!

he has a total control of what he plays, that makes you think he plays in a higher level (and he does...)
its very simply to Dave, cause he knows WHAT to do in every right place, and with an automatic sense..
and of course, the variety of styles on the same piece, from stride to bebop..
McKenna is a High level Jazz pianist, its sad how media doesn´t give him the recognition he deserves...
